Frameworks for navigating epistemic crisis: (1) Triangulation: no single source is sufficient. Cross-reference across sources with different structural incentives. Facts that survive triangulation are more likely true. (2) Incentive analysis: for any claim, ask who benefits. The most reliable information comes from sources with no financial or political stake in the outcome. (3) Time filtering: most information warfare relies on speed — false claims spread fast, corrections spread slow. Waiting 48-72 hours before forming opinions dramatically improves accuracy. (4) Epistemic network: cultivate a small group of trusted, intellectually diverse thinkers whose judgment you respect. Use them as a sensemaking community.

Practical principles: (1) Comfort with uncertainty: "I don't know" is a valid and often optimal position. The pressure to have an opinion on everything is itself a manipulation vector. (3) Meta-awareness: continuously monitor your own cognitive state. Am I reactive or deliberate? Am I in soldier or scout mode? Am I being emotionally captured? (4) Information hygiene: regular audit of your information sources, consumption patterns, and belief updates. (5) Community sensemaking: complex problems require collective intelligence. No individual can process the full information landscape. Trusted communities with diverse perspectives produce better sensemaking than individuals.
The existential stance: you will never have complete information. You will sometimes be wrong. Some beliefs you hold now will turn out to be incorrect. This is not a problem to solve — it's the permanent condition of being a finite mind in a complex world. The practice is not achieving certainty but maintaining the best possible calibration given the information available — and updating when better information arrives.
